கனவு - 7/11/2010

               இன்று என் வாழ்வில் ஒரு வினோதமான நாள் . பல நாளாக நான் நினைத்திருந்த கனவு ஒன்று, இன்று மெய்ப்பட்டது. நான் சிறு வயதிலிருந்து கண்டு ரசித்து வரும் இரு பிரம்மாண்டமான நடிகர்களை ஒன்றாக பார்த்தேன் .  இருவரும் நான் இருந்த அந்த அறையில் என் இருபுறத்தில்  என் தோள் மீது உரசி நின்றார்கள்.  இது நான் வெகு நாளாக கண்டு கொண்டிருந்த கனவு. அதில் ஒருவருக்கு இன்று பிறந்த நாள் வேறு. வாழ்த்த தோன்றவில்லை. ஆனால் நான் இன்று ஆச்சர்யப்படவில்லை. ஆனந்தப்படவில்லை.  எங்கும் என்னுடன் இருக்கும் காமெராவும் என்னிடம் இல்லை. அது தேவையாகவும் தோன்றவில்லை. நான் இவர்களை பார்த்தது ஒரு பொது நிகழ்ச்சியிலோ அல்லது ஒரு பாராட்டு விழாவிலோ அல்ல..... அடுத்த அறையில் உயிரற்ற நிலையில் ஒரு இருவத்திமூன்று வயது பெண் படுத்திருந்தாள். அவளை பறிகொடுத்த  அவர்களது குடும்பம் அழுதுகொண்டிருந்தது.  இவ்விருவரும் துக்கம் விசாரிக்க வந்திருந்தனர் .........இங்கேயா நான் உங்களை பார்க்க வேண்டும்???  இப்படியா நான் உங்களை பார்க்க வேண்டும்??? அவர் என்னை ஏதோ கேட்க, நான் எந்திரம் போல நின்றிருந்தேன்.. பதில் பேச சில நிமிடங்கள் பிடித்தன.  சில நேரங்களில் விதியின் விநோதங்களை புரிந்து கொள்ள முடிவதில்லை, நியாயப்படுத்தவும் முடிவதில்லை. இப்படியும் ஒரு நாள் ...........

Beautiful South India - Hogenagal

Hogenagal is a beautiful place. I was here a year ago. (My friend’s camera has wrongly punched the year as 06, it was 07.) This place is very picturesque and in the rainy season, there are more than 55 water falls here. This is the point where the river Cauvery enters Tamilnadu from Karnataka. Many films from the times of MGR (1960’s) have been shot here.( The famous song in Roja, Rukmani rukmani, was shot here.) This is about 48 kms by road (the only way to reach this place) from Dharmapuri, which if off 60 kms from Krishnagiri, on the Chennai - Banglore highway. Hogenagal is right in the border of Tamilnadu and Karnataka. The boundary lies in the water. So, half of it belongs to Tamilnadu and the rest to Karnataka. This place is also reachable by road from Salem via Dharmapuri. Dharmapuri is reachable by train (station code is DPJ) easily from Bangalore, Ernakulam, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Trichirapalli etc. Dharmapuri has some decent accommodation.

One can go on the parisal in Hogenagal. (Round boat made of basket and coated with Tar on the bottom. Do not worry. It is safe). Off course, there are a lot of localites persuading you to take the massage.... one has a choice here. Ideal time to reach here is the morning at 9. So that one can be back at twelve to the shore and travel back to Dharmapuri for lunch by one o clock. (There is a Saravana Bhavan in Dharmapuri, not the Chennai one but still good). For fish lovers, there are a variety of fish being sold in Hoganegal, fresh and fried and for vegeterians like me, choose a day you want to fast, or carry some food, else you will end up living on Junk food. There is also this mobile eatery store on float. (See picture). All u have to do is shout for him and he will come rowing from one end to the other to give u any of the aerated drinks or packed chips...I was just zapped on seeing this and I started looking for a mobile tea shop of Cheta. Amazing right? (Just goes to prove that the Indians are the most creative, hardworking and adaptable beings on earth).

In the weekends, the local school children line up here on top of rocks and ask you from above 40 feet if you will pay them for a feat. If you agree then they jump right down in to the water from that height and come swimming to your Parisal and take their fee.

Fresh air, Cool water, a beautiful view and an exciting Parisal ride, this is what Hogenagal has in store for you. So, if you are expecting casinos, pubs and illuminated restaurants with never ending pollution and traffic congestion, please proceed to Bangalore.

The best time to visit this place is December to mid March (in my opinion) because, the place may be dry in summer and also too hot and in the rainy season there may be too much water, that the tourism may call off the ride). In South India, Hogenagal is a must see place for all. Have fun.
